NEPRO RACING FORMAT
Purpose: Better racing for a larger range of flying ability.
Each race day will consist of up to 6 rounds with no round starting later than 3:30PM.
Standard and Expert flyers will fly in the same matrix. The Standard flier will fly 9 laps and the Expert will fly 10 laps. A nine lap time of under 1:20 will determine the advancement from Standard to Expert. Three posted times of under 1:20 will be required to become a 10 lap flier and move up to Expert. Qualifying times will carry over and will be counted toward advancement if they are achieved in consecutive years of Standard Class racing participation. If a Standard Class Racer's participation is broken by a racing season year or more, prior qualifying times will be discounted unless at the discretion of the individual pilot they wish to have them count toward advancement to Expert Class Racing.
The points that the flier accumulated as a 9 lap flier will remain with the flier. The flier has the option to add the expert points to the standard points and keep the total of the two in standard class for the season or to transfer all points to the expert class. The option must be declared [prior to] the start of the first [qualifying] race in expert.
It is at the discretion of the individual pilot whether or not to advance from Standard to Expert the current race season or finish out the remainder of the current season as a Standard flier and join Expert the following season.
We limit the frequency registration to 3 per channel.
Take off will be as in the past with lanes one and three taking off first in rounds 1,3 and 5. Lanes two and four will take off first in rounds 2,4, and 6.
At the start of each heat, the starter will direct the lap counters to add one lap to each of the Standard fliers. This will be done even if all four pilots are Standard fliers. All stop watches will start at the drop of the first flag as before.
Race points will be as in the past with a win in a four lane race counting as 4 points, second place as 3 points, third place as 2 points and forth place as 1 point. If the matrix will generate only 3 lanes, then first place is 3 points, second place 2 points and third place 1 point. Total points for the day will determine the finish position for everybody. Prizes will be awarded for the top five finishes. An award for fast time will be given for each race. [Standard Class Nine-lap flyers will not be eligible for race day fast-time, but rather this award will go to the fastest participating Expert Class Ten-lap Flyer]1
Standard and Expert points will be accumulated and awarded for the best 5 [6]1 finishes. [Nepro AMA 426 points will be accumulated and awarded for the best 5 finishes.]1 [In 2012, Nepro AMA 426 will be run as a non-demonstration-purpose race, and participants will be eligible for NMPRA National points in accordance with NMPRA membership and qualifying race number requirements.]1 As before Nepro season points will be based on the number of racers in the event and calculated in accordance with NMPRA guidelines and Nepro membership requirements.
